Infectious Diseases Specialist –LOCUM

This is a one year, 0.70 FTE locum opportunity from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide adult infectious diseases clinical services, which include (but will not be limited to) inpatient consultation and ambulatory clinics, as well as management of patients on home parenteral or outpatient antimicrobial therapy. Longitudinal outpatient management of patients living with HIV/AIDS is a requirement. Treatment of patients with viral hepatitis including antiviral therapy is an option. Other activities within the scope of infectious diseases may be an option for the successful candidate with specific interests, e.g., wound care, STI, tuberculosis. In collaboration with their colleagues, the successful candidate will deliver on call inpatient consultation services to hospital patients.
The successful candidate will be an MD with certification in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada or equivalent and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Additional training or experience in Infection Prevention & Control is preferred.
The successful applicant will also be expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
