Infection Prevention & Control Medical Microbiologist
Island Health, Victoria, BC, CanadaThe Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics at Island Health is seeking a 1.0 FTE Medical Microbiologist whose primary responsibility will be Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC). The successful candidate will join an existing Medical Director of IPAC and a group of five other Medical Microbiologists to expand services to all areas of Island Health including inpatients, community care and long term care. Responsibilities will include development and updating of IPAC policies and procedures and ongoing support of physicians, nurses and other clinicians. It is expected that the role will be an approximate 0.8 FTE commitment to IPAC and 0.2 to general Microbiology services.
Previous experience and training in Infection Prevention and Control would be an asset. . Vancouver Island is home to the Island Medical Program, a satellite of the University of British Columbia and there will be an opportunity for faculty appointment, academic program delivery and clinical research for the appropriate candidate.
The candidate must be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Medical Microbiology, or equivalent and be eligible for licensure in British Columbia.
