LOCUM INFECTIOUS DISEASES PHYSICIAN

Grand River Hospital - Kitchener, On

Grand River Hospital (GRH) and St. Mary’s General Hospital (SMGH) are two separately governed hospitals that function as an integrated system, with well-defined and complementary clinical programs to serve both the local community and the region. As part of their integration strategy, the hospitals have a common medical staff, joint medical and administrative leadership positions, a common electronic health record system (Cerner), and an integrated planning system. Each hospital has an acute care emergency department, as well as their own closed medical/surgical ICUs. Together, GRH and SMGH are sites for regional programs in dialysis, cancer care, cardiac care, and thoracic surgical care.

The hospitals are seeking a locum infectious diseases physician who will work with two other ID consultants to provide inpatient consults for patients at both hospitals, as well as provide outpatient clinic services at GRH, for a wide range of medical and surgical infectious diseases issues. The locum position is for an estimated 12 months (until end of August 2023), potentially starting immediately (start date is flexible). Shorter term locums will also be considered.

Certification in Infectious Diseases by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and current licensure in the Province of Ontario, are required. Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

We thank all applicants for their submissions. All qualified physicians are invited to apply. We strongly encourage applications from women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities. Only candidates felt most appropriate for the position will be selected for interviews.

Interested applicants are asked to submit their CV, letter of interest, and the names of three references to Ms. Lindsay Caroppo at the GRH/SMGH Joint Chief of Staff Office
