ADULT INFECTIOUS DISEASES SPECIALIST (LOCUM)

Position profile – Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) – Saskatoon and University of Saskatchewan, Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases seek two full-time Adult Infectious Diseases Specialists to join their team with the option to provide part-time service delivery. The successful applicant will work in a multidisciplinary care environment. 

The Division of Infectious Diseases in Saskatoon consists of six clinicians who specialize in adult infectious diseases and provide service delivery at the Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon City Hospital and St Paul’s Hospital. Members are actively involved in the Saskatchewan Infectious Disease Care Network which provides HIV and HepC support to marginalized neighbourhoods in Saskatoon and northern communities in Saskatchewan. Members are also part of the Infection Prevention and Control team, as well as Antimicrobial Stewardship. Local service needs also include HIV, chronic viral hepatitis, TB and transplant ID. 

Research interests include diagnosis and treatment of infections in immunocompromised individuals, as well as antimicrobial stewardship, quality improvements and patient safety. 

Compensation details – Independent contract with a competitive weekly remuneration value for a 7-day week of adult ID service

Qualifications/Requirements of the position –Candidates are required to hold Royal College Certification in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS). Certification in Medical Microbiology or additional training in Infection Control would be an asset.
