MICROBIOLOGIST

BC CENTRE FOR DISEASE CONTROL- Vancouver, BC

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) provides provincial and national leadership in public health through surveillance, detection, prevention and consultation and provides both direct diagnostic and treatment services to people with diseases of public health importance.

You’ll be working in a supportive environment with other medical and clinical microbiologists, infectious disease physicians, epidemiologists, research scientists, statisticians and mathematical modellers. Through the use of state of the art molecular, genomics and metagenomics tools you will be expected to develop an independent applied research program that advances the field of microbiology. This will support your ability to provide up-to-date clinical microbiology and policy advice. A functional knowledge of bioinformatics is advantageous. Candidates will need to be eligible for a Partnership Affiliation with the University of British Columbia at an Assistant, Associate or Professor level and provide some undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate trainee teaching.

Vancouver has been consistently rated as one of the world’s best cities to live in. So if you have a passion for transforming how public health microbiology of the future will be practiced please come and join our team.

If you hold a Fellowship in Medical Microbiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or its international equivalent, and are eligible for licensure as a medical microbiologist in British Columbia, then we would welcome your application.
