Medical Microbiologist

Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program and McMaster University - hamilton, ON

The Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) is seeking an academic medical microbiologist (FTE 0.7) with an academic appointment at the assistant, associate or professor level as appropriate in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at McMaster University. The successful applicant will be expected to provide comprehensive clinical laboratory services in the microbiology department and share responsibility for education and research. An interest or expertise in pediatric medical microbiology would be a definite asset, as the successful candidate will be the Microbiology Lead at McMaster Children’s Hospital. A track record of collaboration in laboratory medicine practice, research and/or education is essential. 

The successful applicant will be required to be eligible for an academic appointment at an appropriate rank in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at McMaster University. The academic responsibilities of a faculty member include providing teaching within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels, with particular responsibilities in the postgraduate training programs in Medical Microbiology, General Pathology and Infectious Diseases. McMaster University is home to the DeGroote Institute for Infectious Diseases Research, Global Nexus, the Mucosal Immunity Research Centre and the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact and offers many opportunities for collaborative and independent research.
