ACADEMIC INFECTIOUS DISEASES SPECIALIST
McMaster University - hamilton, ONThe Department of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences invite applicants for an Academic Physician. This is a full-time faculty position for a period of three years (renewable) and is in the Clinician Educator stream. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Applicants will have completed specialty training in Internal Medicine and further fellowship training in Infectious Diseases. The successful candidate will provide at least 15 weeks of in-patient infectious diseases consultation, primarily at our Hamilton General Hospital site. In addition, they will be expected to contribute to outpatient services including general infectious diseases and provide focused care for women with infectious diseases during pregnancy and in the post-partum period. Experience or a special interest in this area would therefore be an asset.
From a scholarly perspective, we are seeking applicants with an interest in curriculum development and/or program evaluation. The successful candidate will be expected to implement program quality improvement for our infectious disease training program and take on leadership positions within the program. Candidates will ideally have additional training, experience, or a record in educational scholarship and/or quality improvement in the educational or clinical space. The individual will be reporting to the Division Director of Infectious Diseases.
The successful candidate will be a full-time member of the Division of Infectious Diseases and be expected to contribute to the academic mission of the Faculty and Division. The successful candidate should have a proven record in undergraduate and/or postgraduate education and will be expected to fully participate in all the appropriate departmental and divisional educational activities.
Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.
