Infectious Disease Physician with Expertise in Transplant Infectious Complications

The Departments of Medicine (http://www.departmentofmedicine.com), Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Microbiology, Immunology & Infectious Diseases, in partnership with the Snyder Institute for Chronic Diseases in the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary invite applications for a clinician position in Infectious Disease and Medical Microbiology at the Clinical Assistant Professor level with specific expertise in Transplant-Associated infectious complications.

The position will include a 0.5 FTE commitment to infectious disease clinical activities.  Primary clinical responsibilities in this domain will at various times will include; providing inpatient infectious disease consultancy services (including weekend & night call) at each of Calgary’s adult hospitals, practicing within a busy but highly effective outpatient antimicrobial treatment program at each hospital and, working collaboratively with allied health colleagues and supervising and educating medical trainees.  The ability to work in partnership with other infectious disease/microbiology/transplant physicians is a must.  Within this sphere a progressively increasing amount of time dedicated to transplant complications will evolve.   The successful candidate will become the Program Lead of Calgary’s Infectious Complications of Transplants.  The candidate will be responsible for a focused outpatient clinic for infectious complications of transplantation and will work collaboratively with various inpatient services to optimize care in hospital.  Furthermore, the candidate will be responsible for developing relationships and liaising with the various hematological and solid organ transplant programs – for which they will receive protected administrative time (0.05 FTE).  We anticipate this domain to grow significantly within the first few years of the successful applicant being onboarded.
