Fraser Health is responsible for the delivery of hospital and community-based health services to over 1.9 million people in 20 diverse communities from Burnaby to Fraser Canyon within the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations, which is home to six Métis Chartered Communities.

We are seeking a locum physician to work as a full time Infectious Diseases Specialist beginning January 15 until August 1, 2024 at Burnaby Hospital. This work would primarily involve providing consultative inpatient services between 08:00-16:00 Monday-Friday. If the selected individual has a strong preference, rotation through outpatient weeks including Home IV/OPAT care, could also be facilitated. During this time period, there will be one other ID specialist at the hospital primarily providing outpatient services. Compensation for this work is through MSP (fee for service). 

During the locum period, there would also be approximately 2-4 weeks of after hours call for Fraser Health authority. Call is for telephone consult advice and does not require travel to hospitals. The individual would be on call after 17:00 on weekdays, until 08:00 the next morning, and then 24 hours during the weekend. There would likely be an additional 2-4 weekends where they would be responsible for taking phone calls between 08:00-17:00 for half of the authority only on the weekend. Compensation for this work is through MOCAP.
